Mia Habis

Mia Habis trained in classical ballet for twenty-eight years, in addition to teaching martial arts, theater and singing. She obtained her degree in French literature at the Université St-Joseph and then at the Sorbonne Paris IV before obtaining a Master's degree in marketing and advertising from the Ecole Supérieure de Publicité and the IAA in Paris.

After working in advertising, copywriting, teaching and event management for several years, she joins Maqamat in 2008, first as a dancer and teacher. She then became involved in the creation and implementation of artistic concepts for the company's projects and started implementing new

communication strategies to raise awareness and broaden the audience of the festival. At the same time, she developed numerous long-term collaborations with local and international institutions.

In 2015, she was appointed by the Festival Committee as Artistic Director of the annual BIPOD - Beirut International Platform of Dance and Moultaqa Leymoun, both previously created by Omar Rajeh to offer Arab artists the space and opportunity to present and develop their choreographic work.

From 2017 to 2019, she co-founds the Citerne Beirut in Lebanon. Habis has been based in Lyon, France since 2019. She continues to co-directs Maqamat and is responsible for disseminating and producing Omar Rajeh | Maqamat internationally. She is also the co-founder of the digital cultural platform Citerne.live.
