Les Subs

With Founé Sow, singer, musician, performer, and dancer from Senegal and Mali, and Nader Mekdachi, author, guitarist, and producer from France and Lebanon.

Together, they have built an original repertoire where French, Wolof, and Soninke intertwine, call out to each other, and respond to each other. The music, lively and danceable, is both rootsy and contemporary, mixing distorted guitars, kora, groove box, percussion, and synthesizers. It draws inspiration from Afrobeat, desert trance, and Malian blues.

This duo promises a vibrant and unique fusion of urban poetry and deep African heritage.

Nader & Founé

Founé is a French-Senegalese-Malian singer, performer, and musician, daughter of a Fulani flutist. She grew up immersed in her village’s melodies and trained in kora, Soninke singing, and dance, performing at ceremonies and family celebrations. She has played in various groups, accompanying Djeli Moussa Condé and Debademba, and shared the stage with Amadou & Mariam and Raymond Doumbé. On stage, whether solo or with a group, she captivates audiences with her magnetic presence and powerful voice. Alongside the Nader & Founé project, she is preparing her first solo album revisiting West African folklore.

Nader is a guitarist, producer, and songwriter known for blending French chanson with world rhythms. He has released five albums with his project Padam, toured internationally for over a decade, and contributed songs for artists like Karimouche and Crys L. He has collaborated with Rocket Mike and accompanied Lebanese underground pop icon Zeid Hamdan on guitar. Recently, he co-founded the Papa Damdam project with Abdoulaye Traoré (Debademba), Hervé Jegousso, and François Causse (Zoufris Maracas), blending his lyrics with Madagascan tsapiky—a project during which he met Founé Sow.

Abdoulaye Traoré

Abdoulaye Traoré is a guitarist from Burkina Faso. He is a founding member of the band Debademba.
Born into a family of musicians, he was introduced to the art by his sister, who taught him to play the guitar, and by his father, a singer and tama player. Abdoulaye was 14 at the time. He has arranged albums for many African artists and has had numerous encounters and collaborations (Fantani Touré, Jean-Philippe Rykiel, Victor Démé, etc.). A true adventurer open to all influences, he does not limit himself to Mandinka music, but also explores Tuareg, Fulani, Wassoulou, blues, flamenco, and slam music. Whether playing electric or acoustic guitar or mandola, he tirelessly explores new horizons. He plays with power and has a flair for improvisation. His repertoire is eclectic and universal.
