Compagnie Relevant is a Lyon-based collective of five choreographers and performers. All discovered dance through cultural outreach programs—in schools, community centers, or social spaces. While some have known each other since childhood, it was in 2017, during the ID training program (a hip-hop program created by Karla Pollux and Aurélien Kairo), that they came together and laid the foundations of the collective as it exists today. This training proved decisive in their journey, strengthening both their desire for choreographic creation and the affirmation of a shared artistic vision rooted in the idea of the group. After winning the international Hip Hop Games in 2018, the company created its first piece, UPSHOT, in delegated production with the Compagnie Art Track. The collective officially structured itself in 2021 and became an associated artist with the CCNR Yuval Pick from 2022 to 2024. During this period, it developed a second creation, STAND OUT, while leading numerous cultural outreach projects across the Rillieux area. Grounded in its origins and trajectory, the company strongly advocates for the transmission and accessibility of dance, engaging with school, extracurricular, hospital, and prison audiences. Its creative work is rooted in contemporary social themes, shaped by the individual and collective experiences of its members. Born from long-standing friendship, the company’s work is marked by strong cohesion and creative synergy, making dance a space for exploring questions of diversity, identity, and community—offering audiences a sensitive and intimate perspective on human relationships and life in society.
