La WAW! (What a Whack!) is a joyful and flamboyant gathering where music and dance reign supreme. Like a disco ball, it spreads light and illuminates all identities present, allowing them to shine, to be revealed. La WAW! is a collective of DJs, MCs, and dancers, brought together around a vision of celebration rooted in Whacking culture—a dance created in the 1970s by racialized gay men in an underground club in Los Angeles as a way to emancipate themselves and break free from oppression.

Club Corps — Dance, as a dialogue between musicians and dancers, expressed through movements, postures, and attitudes, will be at the heart of these evenings.
To launch, leap, spin, surrender to the club corps experience—giving in to the pure sensations that pass through us, feeling the immediate connection between music and body, and beginning again.

La Cité Bouge! unfolds as a vibrant dance space, deeply rooted in its territory, inviting its audience to take part in new choreographic experiences. This experience brings together artists and spectators, offering a platform to observe, engage, and participate.

Tine (Martine Mbock) is a multidisciplinary artist, choreographer, documentary filmmaker, and holistic coach. A Waacking and Popping dancer and member of O’Soul, she explores Fonk as a language of the body, soul, and memory. Through somatic movement, dance, and body awareness, she creates spaces for emotional release and deep self-reconnection.

Founder of Ankhrage.club, an Afrocentric wellness space dedicated to healing, transmission, and celebrating Black bodies, she develops holistic experiences combining ancestral practices, art, and care. She also created les.rootines, a space for sharing somatic practices that connect the physical body, emotional body, and energy to cultivate grounding, presence, and inner freedom.

Dee Diggs is a Brooklyn-based DJ known for emotionally rich, genre-spanning sets rooted in house music. Openly Black and queer, she channels the legacy of Black innovators in house and techno while bringing a personal, spiritual energy to her performances. Starting in college radio, her passion evolved into an international DJ career, with standout mixes like her 2019 release for FACT Magazine gaining critical acclaim. She also curates events such as House of Diggs in New York and holds a residency at Public Records. Alongside performing, she continues developing her music production, with more work on the horizon.

Reine Claude knows the recipe for the best jams: a generous dose of sugary disco, highlighted by the smoothness of R&B and the sharpness of house, all topped with a hint of French boogie. Delicious spreads served at any hour of the day or night, for the greatest pleasure of dancers. Co-founder of the collective What a Whack!, which brings together waacking dancers, MCs, and DJs through the “WAW!” parties in Lyon, Reine Claude aims to put joy, sharing, and freedom back at the heart of our relationship to the club. The goal is simple: bring the dancefloor back to its essence by allowing everyone to express themselves and connect with others. Waacking: an emancipatory dance created by a group of queer men of color in Los Angeles in the 1970s.

Gorgeous (MC & dancer)Before becoming a waacker, Gorgeous was an actress and stage director. She has worked with various companies, festivals, and cultural events. She co-organizes battles and events for the Lyon Waacking Project, where she takes on the role of MC. She also develops this activity beyond LWP and waacking, always guided by inclusivity and sharing.

Gigi (dancer)Originally from Turin, Italy, Gigi moved to France in 2014 to deepen her passion for dance—hip-hop, locking, and house—before ultimately falling in love with waacking. At the same time, she has developed skills in project management, business development, and negotiation in the private sector. This dual background gives her a “free spirit” approach, allowing her to express an eclectic personality that bridges these different worlds.

Yassqueen (dancer)A multidisciplinary dancer specializing in waacking, Yasmine—known on stage as YassQueen—is a performer full of energy and emotion. She is currently touring with the Lyon Waacking Project and with the company Erato (Encerclé). Curious about the world around her, she is constantly seeking new perspectives and discoveries. Passionate about theatre, she also practices improvisation, trains in on-camera acting (Aquarium Ciné Café, Lyon), and has performed in projects combining dance and theatre.
Actively engaged in both artistic and educational workshops, as well as social projects, she enjoys reflecting on the world through her work. In 2025, she launched her first solo piece 100°, blending her waacking and contemporary influences.

Yetunde (dancer), known by her stage name Yetunde, is a French musician and dancer trained in classical and contemporary percussion at the CNSMD of Lyon. Her work bridges music and dance, combining both practices in her artistic career. She discovered waacking in 2020 and joined the Lyon Waacking Project. Since 2023, she has performed in the contemporary dance piece Des Oiseaux by Joana Schweizer, for which she also co-composed and recorded the soundtrack. Now active in the field of contemporary and popular music, she has performed on stage with artists such as Lucie Antunes and Bertrand Belin, touring major festivals and venues across France. In 2026, she will perform at the Nuits de Fourvière as part of D.I.S.C.O by Josépha Madoki.

Honeybee (dancer)Originally from Marseille, Honeybee first trained in academic dance before entering the hip-hop scene. After moving to Lyon in 2020, she discovered waacking. Today, she works toward developing a unique movement language that blends hip-hop and waacking aesthetics.
