Co-labs

Co-Labs is a research laboratory for Lebanon-based practitioners dedicated to dance and performing arts in relation to interdisciplinary practices.

A lab for innovative forms of collaborations between people coming from different disciplines

This laboratory aims to initiate innovative forms of collaborations between people coming from different disciplines to work together and exchange knowledge with the purpose of creating and developing performances. Co-labs will offer a space for co-creation with attention to the blurring of the barriers between disciplines. We are encouraging original and unfamiliar collaborations, for instance a photographer or a florist could create the set design for a dancer, a painter or an architect could create the costumes, a journalist or a lawyer could propose a text, an osteopath could feed the physical partiture of a performance, etc…

Co-Labs intends to give space to artists to refresh their knowledge and renew their creative approaches both aesthetically and dramaturgically. The purpose is to open a dialogue between different practices and to see in what ways they can influence each other.

Co-Labs selected projects composed of 2 to 4 participants.

The artists have been granted residencies as well as a co-production grant to explore, research and develop their artistic projects. Reserach outcomes and progress were presented within the framework of BIPOD 2022.
