About the artist:  Michikazu Matsune is a Vienna-based Japanese performance-artist and choreographer. Matsune works in various contexts and spaces such as stage, museum, public and private spaces. His interdisciplinary performances investigate themes such as the relationship between body and objects, action and language, place and behavior. His interest lies in testing poetical absurdity to reflect our society critically and playfully. Matsune started creating his own works in 2004 and has been produced by renowned institutions and festivals in Austria including SZENE Salzburg, ImPulsTanz Festival, Brut Wien, Tanzquartier Wien and Steirischer Herbst Graz among other international locations. As an extension of his art practice, he also organizes and curates exhibitions with focus on performance practice.

ميشيكازو ماتسون هو فنان وكوريغراف ياباني، مقيم في فيينا. يعمل ضمن سياقات ومساحات متنوّعة، مثل المسرح والمتحف والمساحات العامة والخاصة. يتّسم بأدائه المتعدد التخصّصات الذي يبحث في مواضيع شتى، منها العلاقة بين الجسم والأشياء، الفعل واللغة، المكان والسلوك. ينهمك في اختبار العبثية الشعرية ليعبّر عن مجتمعنا بشكل نقدي ومرح. بدأ ماتسون بابتكار أعماله الخاصة في العام 2004، وقد حظيت بإنتاج من جانب مؤسسات ومهرجانات مرموقة في النمسا، بما في ذلك Szene Salzburg ومهرجان ImPulsTanz و Brut Wien و Tanzquartier Wien و Steirischer Herbst Graz من بين مواقع دولية أخرى. امتدادًا لممارسته الفنية، ينظّم أيضا المعارض مع التركيز على الفن الأدائي.

About the workshop: Michikazu Matsune works with strong conceptual elements such as frames, narrative structures, and dance in diverse contexts. In this 3-day workshop, participants will experiment with the idea of “self-portrait” through various performative methods, both individually and as a group.
