Charlie Prince and Erin Hill were offered to do a residency at Maqamat Bet El Raqs followed by a public presentation
"Having
grown up in Lebanon, the idea of returning home to share my body's
journey
came as a dream. The very act of dancing in Lebanon, even more, the Chouf which
is where I grew up, is a significant and potent one for me.
During
this residency, with the help of my partner and collaborator, I wish to
explore the theme of identity as a diasporic Lebanese person living abroad. This
will most probably come under the form of a solo, but I wish to have a dialogue
with other artists in Lebanon in hopes of gathering material and creating
multidisciplinary connections through the process.
I
also take this event as an opportunity to work with and meet new artists living
in Lebanon, as part of my desire to make work in and reconnect to my native
land."
