A reservoir for inspiration.
After 16 years of presence in Lebanon, we are very excited to announce that Maqamat has built a unique performing arts space in Lebanon. Accessible from all corners, East, West, North and South, Citerne Beirut is the artistic port for all cultures, ideas and identities.
Citerne Beirut is a mobile steel structure of 1000 m2 composed of three stages X studios X all purpose rooms which can host a range of events such as performances, exhibitions, festivals, concerts, screenings, artistic residencies and workshops. In addition there will be daily dance classes uniquely curated for a variety of dance passionados - including children!
This new performing arts space will nurture and further propel the already existing projects of Maqamat, such as BIPOD, Moultaqa Leymoun and Takween, into an enriched experience, reaching a wider audience both local and international. This “inhousing” of the projects within one large enterprise will allow many more cultural exchanges.
Why stop there? Citerne Beirut will also provide people with a space to meet, mingle, work and play, all possible in the Citerne Beirut Café.
We can’t wait for you to experience it! The opening will take place on the 4th of April, 2019, at the launch of BIPODs 15th Edition, and the Lebanese Premiere of #minaret, the latest creation of Omar Rajeh | Maqamat.
