DIDO & AENEAS | A Journey Between WorldsOmar Rajeh will travel to Tunisia this month to work on this new opera premiering in May 2026. Between past and present, between continents and cultures, Dido & Aeneas emerges as a dialogue across time, a crossing between baroque music and contemporary bodies, between exile and belonging. This new creation by the Ballet de l'Opéra de Tunis and the baroque ensemble Les Épopées, choreographed and directed by Omar Rajeh, reimagines Purcell’s masterpiece within today’s reality, where every port, train station, or road becomes a space of transition. Dido is no longer one figure alone. She is all of them. The traveller, the refugee, the builder, the strategist. Each Dido has fled somewhere and found refuge in a place, in people, in movement. Dido & Aeneas becomes a journey, a passage through danger and discovery, loss and creation, where history breathes again in the present.
